A Busy Weekend!
While many were cozy in their beds and sleeping in on Saturday morning, I was up at 5 a.m. and pounding away at the computer keys getting my final revisions and synopsis rewrites for 2 projects ready to send to my agent who will begin shopping them around. I finally made it to bed Saturday night at 1:30 and was back up at 5:30 a.m. on Sunday. Although the weather was glorious, I only stepped away from the computer long enough to zip to the grocery store for some Hagen Das! But, the good news is that the hard work ended about 10 p.m. on Sunday and the weekend ended with a wonderful candle-lit bubble bath. The first thing on Monday a.m., I e-mailed both proposals to my agent and PHEW…was finally able to take a breath.Â
You probably think that the hard part is over. Wrong! The hard part is just beginning. The hard part is the waiting, the nail biting, the waiting, the nervous pacing, the waiting, the dread of rejection, the waiting, the suggestions for rewrites that some editors may ask for, and…yeah, the waiting. Is it all worth it? It is if you actually can’t live without writing. You’d be amazed how many times writers ask themselves why they put up with the agony. The answer is always the same — it’s because we can’t stop writing, and more to the point — we don’t want to stop writing.Â
BTW #1 — I also learned that Delicious, one of the new proposals, is a finalist in the Golden Rose writing competion sponsored by one of the Oregon RWA chapters.Â
BTW #2 — I was also contacted by Romantic Times magazine to send them an update on what I’ve been doing lately and if I’m working on any new books. The info will be included in an article to be published in RT’s January 2010 issue.
So, what am I doing in the meantime? I’m waiting. :>D
